The Healthy TMJ Protocol

The Healthy TMJ Protocol

We developed the Healthy TMJ Protocol to help our clients with pain and loss of function associated with TMD and re-engage in their valued occupations to their level of satisfaction. Our goal is to help our clients understand where the pain may have started, what may have made it worsen over time, and how to eliminate it. Our goal is to empower our clients to take control of their pain and have tools to help them should the pain return.

The Healthy TMJ Protocol is a set of guidelines and each practitioner applying these concepts should use their own clinical judgement as to which parts of the protocol are appropriate for each individual client. Our goal should always be client centered care.

To create the Healthy TMJ protocol, we took a deep dive into the literature and combined it with our many hours of clinical experience working with clients who have TMD, and of course, we listened to our clients and what was important to them. This process helped us create a protocol we believe is helpful in reducing pain, improving function, and increasing quality engagement in valued occupations.
